Unique Handmade Gifts With A Mission
Crafting is in my blood. I come from a very creative family and ever since I was a little girl I wanted to follow in my grandad’s footsteps and make jewellery. Often my family will help me with new ideas and even make the odd bits and bobs for my shop (my mum is an awesome knitter) - hence the name ‘Gallagher’s Boutique’.
I’m at my happiest when I’m creating, I find it very therapeutic. I also donate a percentage of my profits to the mental health charity Mind, so I love that I can put my creativity to good use.
On a deeper level, the story behind my shop starts from a difficult time in my life. A friend of mine had sadly taken his own life and I started feeling overwhelmed by how much mental health affects so many people close to me and around the world. I decided to teach myself various crafts as a way to focus my mind on something else and I found, personally, that it really helped me.
When friends and family started complimenting me on my creations and said they wanted to buy them, I had a light bulb moment: I decided to set up an Etsy shop, and in memory of my friend I pledged to donate a percentage of my profits to the mental health charity, Mind.
My shop has been open since 2013 and it’s honestly been the best thing I’ve ever done. I have since opened a second Etsy shop specifically for bridal accessories called GraceGallagherBridal.
